I'm not totally sure why the Guardian hates EAs so much, but my best guess is this - there is a certain sort of progressive who is absolutely furious that there exists a political movement which is thoroughly humanitarian without being left-coded. Such people can't bear to acknowledge that the left does not have a monopoly on compassion.
